In Nigeria, the majority of pre-primary schools are private. In the school year 2018/2019, private pre-primary schools amounted to 53.6 thousand, of which some 30 thousand were located in urban areas. Public pre-primary schools, on the other hand, added up to around 32 thousand, most of them located in rural Nigeria.
