Number of house unit backlog in Indonesia 2010-2023
As of 2023, Indonesia had a backlog of about ten million housing units, reflecting the number of Indonesian households left which were supposed to own a house in the country. To lower this number, the Indonesian government launched the "One Million Houses" program (Program Sejuta Rumah) aiming to build one million houses each year. At the same time, the housing demand was expected to keep growing due to rising urbanization and population growth.
