Around 4,500 structures were destroyed by wildfires in the United States in 2024, representing an increase of 5.4 percent in comparison to the previous year. Nevertheless, this was significantly lower than the figures reported in 2020. The 2020 fire season was particularly devastating as the area of acres burnt due to wildland fires reached 10.1 million, making it the second-greatest fire season in recent history.
