Involuntary part-time employees are those workers who wanted a full-time job, but they could not find it. In 2023, 55 percent of part-time employees in Italy were working less than 40 hours per week because they were unable to find a suitable full-time job. In particular, this was the case for 70 percent of male workers and for 50 percent of female employees. Hence, for women, it is more common to voluntary take on a part-time job compared to men.
