Apart from social media and video streaming, elderly Chinese people were active in mobile finance and e-commerce. Data in January 2025 indicated that more than half of the monthly active mobile internet users aged over 60 years in China had used financial management and shopping apps. In comparison, audio services and digital reading experienced a much lower penetration rate.
