The number of food and beverage retail stores in the United States in 2022 amounted to about 162,000. Supermarkets and other grocery stores were the most represented, numbering around 63,000. Of these, there were more than 20,000 stores with less than five employees, while stores with more than 500 employees totaled just over 22,000.
