Most downloaded food and grocery delivery apps in Spain 2024

In 2024, Glovo was the most downloaded food delivery app in Spain. While mobile users downloaded Glovo's app approximately * million times, UberEats garnered around *** million downloads that same year, ranking second. ALDI Supermercados rounded out the top three, with *** thousand app downloads.

From startup to global success

Oscar Pierre’s idea of launching an app where consumers could get their groceries delivered in minutes, received around 100 thousand euros as first investment and it was then founded in 2015, in Spain. Since then the company spread and was operating in ** countries, reaching a market share of over ** percent in Spain by 2022, when it was acquired by the German food delivery giant Delivery Hero. 

Delivery Hero's success in Asia

Despite its global reach, Asia and MENA are the two most lucrative regions in terms of revenues for Delivery Hero, generating *** billion euros and *** billion euros in revenues in 2023, respectively. In Asia, South Korea alone has generated the majority of the company’s revenue in 2023, reaching figures of nearly *** billion euros, making it a particularly lucrative market for the Berlin-based company.
