In 2024, over six in ten worldwide merchants with online presence reported a surge in online payment fraud. In addition, almost 55 percent noted an increase in charge back, while more than 50 percent indicated experiencing more account takeover (ATO) attacks. On the other hand, almost 20 percent of merchants reported a decrease in refund abuse.
