The European Commission has paid 3.5 billion euros to European Union (EU) countries hosting refugees from Ukraine. The largest beneficiary was Poland - 562 million euros - the country that welcomed the most significant number of refugees from Ukraine after Russia's invasion of the country on February 24, 2022. The purpose of the support is to provide food, accommodation, health care, education, and employment, among other things. The payments for REACT-EU were made under the EU’s Cohesion’s Action for Refugees in Europe (CARE).
