Visa's market share in Japan increased three percentage points between 2022 and 2023. In 2021, JCB briefly held the highest market share in Japan, but declined to 32 percent two years later. The market share of cash money in Japanese POS transactions is declining - although still dominant at POS transactions as of 2023.
