The sickness absence rate of the NHS-England staff stood at *** percent in October 2024. Since April 2009, the sickness absence rate of the NHS workforce in England ranged from *** to *** percent. During the coronavirus pandemic, however, the sickness absence rates often exceeded five percent and notably reached over six percent on several occasions.
Rates have been calculated by dividing the “Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Number of Days Sick” by the “FTE Number of Days Available” from the absence dimension on the ESR Data Warehouse.
