As of December 2024, the United States ranked first on the list with the largest monetary value of assets under management held by public pension funds (PPFs). The combined value of all PPFs in the United States amounted to nearly 12 trillion U.S. dollars in assets under management (AUM). The U.S. led by a considerable margin of nine trillion U.S. dollars ahead of Japan, which ranked second with a total AUM value of two trillion U.S. dollars.
