Germany had the highest volume of freely allocated EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) allowance (EUAs) for stationary installations in 2024, at 119 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). Germany had a share of about 23 percent of EU ETS freely allocated allowances that year. By comparison, France's freely allocated allowances totaled 50 MtCO₂e.
