According to a survey conducted in the third quarter of 2023, a majority of the internet users in South Africa aged 16-64 years followed social media accounts of family, friends, and acquaintances. This represented just over 60 percent of the respondents. Moreover, some 42 percent cited following TV shows or channels on social media, while around 41 percent stated following restaurants, chefs, and foodies.
