In the fiscal year 2023, Shinjuku Station was the busiest railway station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East), with approximately 650.6 thousand passengers boarding per day. As Shinjuku Station hosts many more railway (and bus) operators, the total number of people using the station, including passengers getting off and transferring, is several million per day.
