Get in touch with us nowGreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Spain had been consistently higher from 1995 to 2019, when compared to 1990 levels. The largest increase was observed in 2005, when GHG emissions in the Mediterranean country were around 52.5 percent higher than in 1990. 2020 was the first time emissions dropped when compared to 1990, with levels being reduced by some 5.4 percent. This was mostly a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions imposed. However, two years later, Spain's emissions had increased once more above 1990 levels. Overall, annual GHG emissions in Spain have been on a mostly downward trend since 2007.
