In 2023, Endesa's direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (scope 1) amounted to some 11.7 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent, a decrease of 13.7 percent in comparison to the previous year. Energy indirect GHG emissions (scope 2) stood at 0.29 million tons of CO2 equivalent, whereas other indirect GHG emissions (scope 3) dropped from almost 21 million tons of CO2 equivalent in 2022 to 17 million tons in 2023. In 2022, Endesa was the second largest GHG emitter company in Spain.
