In order to reach the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, the emission intensity of the aluminum industry would need to decrease by roughly 97 percent between 2022 and 2050, from more than 16 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent per ton of production in the former year. Meanwhile, the cement industry's emissions are forecast to stand at 0.09 tons of CO₂ per ton of production by 2050 under the net-zero scenario.
