As of November 2022, just above 24 thousand Universal Account Number (UAN) cards were generated in India. The highest number of UAN cards were generated in December 2021, amounting to around eight million. UAN is an identification number given by Employee Provident Fund Organization to unorganized workers. The employees with this number can access their account and transfer funds without employer's involvement.
