Plastic waste imports in the EU 2005-2023

The European Union (EU-27) imported over 750,000 metric tons of plastic waste from non-EU countries in 2023. Overall, the volume of plastic waste imported by the EU has seen an upward trend for nearly two decades. Meanwhile, plastic waste exports from the European Union amounted to some 1.33 million metric tons in 2023, after seeing a continuous decline.
