The long-awaited open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy, which is set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, was an instant hit on release. Launched in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million units in its first two weeks of release and a lifetime total of 34 million units with a retail sales gross of 1 billion U.S. dollars as of March 2025. First launched for current gen consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 10, it received a May 2023 release for the previous generation of gaming consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch release also happened in November 2023.
