Most common reasons for paying with cash in Japan 2025

The quick completion of payments was a common reason for its use in Japan, according to a survey conducted from February to March 2025. Around 42 percent of respondents stated they used cash because the payment can be completed on the spot. The widespread acceptance of cash was the second most common reason for using it.
