Survey was conducted using Tencent’s survey panel among respondents from mainland China who were interested in travel. Respondents were selected from a total of 49 tier-1, new tier-1, and tier-2 cities. Respondent age and gender were controlled with quotas.
44 percent of respondents were male and 56 percent were female.
Around 9 percent were born before 1980, 21 percent were born in the 1980s, 44 percent were born in the 1990s, and 25 percent were born in 2000 or later.
Majority of the respondents, 64 percent, had bachelor or master degree.
33 percent had a monthly salary of more than 17,000 yuan, 37 percent had between 8,000 and 17,000 yuan, and 29 percent earned less than 8,000 yuan a month.
38 percent were single, 18 percent were unmarried but had a partner, 37 percent were married and had children, 5 percent were married without children.
