Ranking of Mac single-core Geekbench score performance worldwide 2025, by device

Apple's MacBook Pro models continue to showcase impressive performance. As of February 2025, the MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2024) with Apple M4 Max achieved the best average single-core performance among Apple Mac devices with a score of 3,927 from the Geekbench benchmarking tests. Close competition exists between Apple and traditional computer processor suppliers, highlighting the ongoing battle for processing supremacy between Apple's custom silicon and traditional x86 processors. 

Apple's market position and product evolution

Despite strong performance metrics, Apple faces challenges in the competitive PC market. Mac shipments decreased to 5.7 million units in the third quarter of 2024, down from 6.27 million in the same quarter the previous year. However, Mac revenue showed resilience, generating approximately 7.7 billion U.S. dollars in the fourth quarter of Apple's 2024 fiscal year, a slight increase from the previous year. This suggests that while unit sales may be declining, Apple is maintaining revenue through higher-priced, premium devices.
