According to a 2023 survey across all 27 European Union member states, half of all respondents in the EU aged 15 years or older read local news in the week running to the survey, making this the most accessed news topic. News about national politics and European and international affairs were both also popular, whereas only around 20 percent of respondents accessed news about culture, hobbies, and people in the seven days before the survey.
