The composition of assets in the Italian banking industry experienced some fluctuations between 2020 and 2024, but loans and advances consistently accounted for the largest share. As of the fourth quarter of 2024, loans and advances accounted for more than half of the total assets, amounting to around 1.5 trillion euros.
