In 2021, Portugal recorded a positive trade balance for its motor vehicles, parts, and accessories segment, exporting more of these goods than were imported in the country. However, the country's exports had been steadily decreasing for two years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, while imports from 2016 to 2019 had been rising.
