U.S. tariffs' impact
Slovakia is a global leader by car production per 1,000 inhabitants. As car manufacturers contribute significantly to the country's economy, the increased U.S. tariffs on car imports from Slovakia are expected to make it one of the European countries most impacted by the higher tariffs. From April 3, 2025, the car import tariffs were set at 25 percent; from May, they were to be expanded to car parts. This could lead to a decline in production in the industry due to an expected lower demand for exports to the U.S.
