In 2024, around 65.8 percent of all light passenger vehicles sold on the Mexican market were imported. Across the recorded period, Mexico has consistently sold more imported cars than cars which were nationally produced. However, the country has a positive automotive industry trade balance, with automotive exports well over double its automotive imports in 2023.
