In 2024, credit card payments in Japan amounted to 116.9 trillion Japanese yen. QR code payments followed with a transaction value of 13.5 trillion yen, surpassing the value of electronic money payments for the third time. The cashless payment ratio in Japan increased by 3.5 percentage points year on year.
