The leading four publishing companies controlled almost 90 percent of the regional daily newspaper market in terms of circulation in the United Kingdom in 2022, an investigation found. Reach accounted for the biggest share of circulation with 32 percent, whereas competitor Newsquest claimed a share of 29 percent, meaning that over 60 percent was controlled by just two publishers.
