As of February 2025, the five leading mobile game developers in Southeast Asia were all based in Singapore. Among them, Garena International I ranked as the most downloaded developer, surpassing over 2.3 billion total downloads on the Google Play Store. Outside of Singapore, Vietnam-based iKame Games Zego Studio was the most prominent developer, with close to 985 million mobile game downloads.
Growth of mobile gaming
The gaming industry in Southeast Asia has experienced steady growth throughout the past few years, with mobile gaming leading the way. The revenue of the mobile games market in Southeast Asia is projected to exceed three billion U.S. dollars in the near future. The number of mobile gamers is particularly high in Indonesia and the Philippines, accounting for approximately 70 percent of all mobile gamers in the region.
Singapore: A thriving game development hub
Singapore has established itself as a leading force in Southeast Asia's gaming industry, with its developers leading in total mobile game downloads across the region. The leading game developer and publisher, Garena International, provides a platform for globally recognized games such as League of Legends or Call of Duty: Mobile. Additionally, Garena has published their own game called Free Fire, which ranked among the most downloaded gaming apps worldwide. With a continuous market presence, Southeast Asia is set to remain a key player in the global mobile gaming landscape.
