In 2023, nearly 40 percent of respondents among technical executives and IT security practitioners worldwide reported that their company used a dark web monitoring service to determine when existing passwords had been compromised. In addition, one-third of respondents mentioned that their organization used a security tool that detects compromised passwords. Overall, under 10 percent of respondents stated that their firm did not have a method in place to monitor potentially compromised passwords.
