Through 2016 to 2019, the Traton Group saw a period of steady growth with operating result climbing from about 730 million euros in 2016 up to about 1.9 billion euros in 2019. In 2020, the Traton Group saw a significant decline of operating result to about 81 million euros, less than any of the previous reported years. Finally, this short period of decline was followed by a period of growth from 2021 to 2024, with operating results reaching 4.2 billion euros in 2024.
The brief period of decline in operating result was in the midst of both the COVID-19 pandemic and global semiconductor shortages. It was not only the Traton Group that suffered such losses as the number of cars sold worldwide suffered a decline during that same period.
