In 2023, there were over one million reconstructive surgeries conducted by plastic surgeons in the United States (only ASPS member surgeons). Of these, tumor removal was the most common, followed by hand surgery, for example for carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis. The third most common procedure was breast reconstruction, this could be done following a mastectomy (breast removal surgery) due to breast cancer. Compared to 2022, all types of reconstructive surgeries have increased.
