As of 2023, the total duration of news stories aired in regular television news programs from the three generalist TV chains in Portugal (RTP, SIC, and TVI) equaled 3,067 hours. Jornal da Noite, by SIC, was the TV news program with the highest duration of news stories aired, namely 573 hours and 26 minutes. Jornal Nacional, by TVI, followed, with 492 hours and 37 minutes of news pieces in 2023.
