In 2023, almost 9.14 million kilometers were covered on station-based shared bikes in Italy. This was about a four percent decrease from the previous year. The highest distance covered in 2019, which stood at 12.9 million kilometers.
In station-based bike-sharing schemes, hired bikes have to be returned to the station from which they were picked up or dropped off at another designated hire station.
