Between 1854 and 2023, the French energy and petroleum company TotalEnergies emitted almost 18 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e). This is roughly twice the cumulative emissions that were produced by the Italian oil supermajor Eni during this same period.
