Area under vines for the leading red wine grape types Germany 1999-2023

Pinot noir claimed the largest part of area under vines in Germany as far as red wine grapes were concerned, with over 11,500 hectares in 2023. This was, however, a decrease compared to earlier years. Dornfelder grapes came in second place.
