In financial year 2024, Madhya Pradesh was the leading producer of finger millet in India, with a production volume of about 147 thousand metric tons. It was followed by the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Millets are a group of nutritionally rich, drought-tolerant crops mostly grown in the arid and semi-arid regions of India. Known as 'coarse cereals,' they are used for both food and fodder, making them highly efficient for farming.
