At the end of the first round of the French legislative elections in June 2024, there were 190 duels planned for the second round, meaning two candidates qualified in 190 of the 577 electoral districts. Only candidates who obtained several votes equal to 12.5 percent of those registered could remain in the second round. Usually, this meant a second round with a majority of duels, like in 2017 or 2022. However, in 2024, the participation rate was particularly high, which generated 306 triangulars, meaning three candidates qualified for the second round in 306 of the electoral districts.

*Some candidates part of triangulars and quadrangulars might withdraw between the two rounds.
During the first round of the French legislative elections, candidates may go to the second round if they win several votes at least equal to 12.5% of the number of registered voters. This usually means only two candidates qualify in most cases (duels). However, during elections with high participation, more candidates might be able to qualify, therefore there might be three (triangulars) or even four candidates (quadrangulars) competing in the same electoral district.
