In 2023, 22 percent of technology companies, founded in Israel as startups since 2003, were able to reach maturity. Among firms in the defense technologies vertical, 38 percent were categorized having reached maturity. In the local semiconductor industry, 33 percent of ventures were found to be mature companies. As of 2023, 2,799 mature tech start-ups were active in Israel.

The source defines a 'mature startup' as a venture which has completed its development phase and has commenced its production phase. During the stage, companies typically rely on their own income to operate and are less reliant on capital investment. The criteria for inclusion are either one or more of the following:
The company operates for at least 10 years.
The company employs at least 80 employees.
The company earned more than 20 million Israeli shekels (about 5.5 million U.S. dollars).
