Germany: perceived impact of governmental incentives on decisions to drive BEV 2023

In a survey conducted in Germany in October 2023, drivers were asked about the effect of governmental incentives on their decision to drive a battery-electric vehicle. Some 42 percent of German drivers perceived the purchase subsidy for a new electric car to have a high impact on the decision to drive a full-battery electric car. On the other hand, 11 percent of respondents answered that this type of subsidy would have no impact on this choice.

In Germany, battery-electric vehicle subsidies were provided until December 2023, and manufacturer discounts until March 2024.
