Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo approval rate 2025

Claudia Sheinbaum was appointed the first female president of Mexico during the 2024 general elections, with over 57 percent of the votes. During December, Sheinbaum recorded an approval rate of 83 percent. 

What could be better?  

According to the same survey, Mexicans approve overall the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum; nonetheless, there are some categories where the Government could be doing better. For example, both corruption and organized crime recorded more negative sentiments than positive ones. Specially, the second category recorded 64 percent of the surveyed disapproving. This is no surprise; as of May 2024, more than half of residents thought that crime and insecurity were the main problems society faces.  

Under AMLO’s shadow?  

It is not a secret that Andres Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has been one of the most beloved Mexican presidents; according to approval ratings, he leads the ranking of the last five heads of Government. Nevertheless, Sheinbaum starts off with a clear advantage and continues to expand the social agenda with public assistance programs like the “Women’s Welfare Pension,” directed to help the female population among the ages 60 to 64, or “House-to-house health”, to bring medical care to elderly and disabled direct to their own homes. The so-called “Fourth Transformation” remains to be well regarded among the citizens as a new direction for the country, even when other factors such as crime and violence continue to prevail.
