Payment methods used by individuals in Israel July 2022, by share of respondents

In July 2022, credit cards were the most commonly used payment method in Israel, with almost 67 percent of respondents confirming they used a payment card in the day prior. It was followed by cash which was used by 55 percent of people. By comparison, the study found that only 28 percent of respondents recently used a mobile payment app.

Participants were asked to indicate how they would prefer to use payment methods in various scenarios—such as payment recipients, as payers, in different payment situations, for specific payment amounts, and so on. Respondents are a representative sample of the population aged 18-74 who are connected to the internet.

'Digital wallet' refers to an online platform that replicates the functionality of a physical wallet, enabling users to store funds for future use and, in some cases, keep digital versions of items like tickets, licenses, or passes.

'Payment app' refers to a mobile application that facilitates financial transactions as an intermediary, with some apps offering wallet-like features to store money temporarily.

'Other payment apps' refer to payment applications that are not part of the major or most widely used platforms. It could include smaller, regional, or specialized apps. In this survey, there was a relevant app for each sample.
