Trust seems to play a large role for American TikTok users when considering to purchase something on TikTok Shop. A 2024 survey reveals that a lack of trusting TikTok with payment information was the leading reason for users of the social media platform not to purchase something on the in-app shop. 

TikTok in the United States

ByteDance's social media network TikTok has been enjoying tremendous popularity in the United States. Despite trust issues and a looming ban, TikTok is among the most popular social media networks in the country. When looking at TikTok's global user spread, the U.S. is even revealed as the country with the highest number of users of the platform.

Brand value

The short-form-video-based social network is a huge global success. In China, ByteDance operates Douyin, which is a social media app very similar to TikTok. The brand value of both apps combined reached over 105 billion U.S. dollars in 2025. This was an increase of nearly 90 billion U.S. dollars compared to 2021.
