In a 2024 survey, 27 percent of respondents in the United Arab Emirates who came from an upper income class said that they lost weight during the month of Ramadan. The highest share of respondents who said that they gained weight during the month were between 18 and 24 years old, at 30 percent. In the same survey, 73 percent of respondents said they saw Ramadan as an opportunity to reset their bodies, and a similar share said they tended to eat more home-cooked meals during the month.
