In a survey conducted in 2024 about environmental issues in Australia, around 29 percent of respondents indicated that they strongly supported the country's transition away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy generation. On the other end of the spectrum, just under 10 percent of respondents strongly opposed the renewable energy transition.
Opinion on the renewable energy transition in Australia in 2024
The question was as follows: "To what extent do you support or oppose Australia’s transition away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy generation?"
The Ipsos Climate Change Report is conducted annually via the online Ipsos Omnibus panel.Â
Each year, approximately 1,000 Australian adults aged 18 and older are asked to select environmental issues facing the nation and a series of questions related to climate change. Data is weighted to match the profile of the population.
