During the fourth quarter of 2024, Databricks saw the largest equity deal of any artificial intelligence (AI) unicorn in the United States and worldwide. Databricks raised ten billion U.S. dollars in December 2024 from investors of the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, DST Global, GIC, Insight Partners, and Thrive Capital , among others. The second largest equity funding deal of the year for AI unicorns involved OpenAI, which raised 6.6 billion U.S. dollars in equity investments from Thrive Capital, Coatue, Khosla Ventures, Microsoft, and Tiger Global Management.
