Many survey respondents noted the issue had increased, with 85 percent stating this was a "somewhat greater problem" or a "much greater problem". Roughly five percent of those surveyed felt greenwashing was "somewhat or much less" of a problem.

The following details regarding survey methodology were added by the source; "The decision-makers who were surveyed work for asset management firms, wealth management firms, private banks, insurers, pension funds, family offices, foundations, endowment funds and sovereign wealth funds. Their job titles include vice president or director of investments, chief investment officer, head of ESG/sustainable investments, portfolio manager and other investment decision-maker. Their institutions’ assets under management (AUM) range from less than 1 billion U.S. dollars to 50 billion U.S. dollars or more."
